You're Gunna Need a Bigger Scream

You're Gunna Need a Bigger Scream

In “You’re Gunna Need a Bigger Scream,” part of my “Forbidden Universal” collection, I bring together two iconic elements: the terrifying shark from Steven Spielberg’s ‘JAWS’ and the figure from Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’. Set on a dock, the dark water below holds a secret that is both ominous and humorous. The scene raises the question: could the shark be the reason for the man’s scream in Munch’s original piece?

I utilized the impressionist style, employing loose brushstrokes and light colors to convey a sense of movement and immediacy. The shark, the central figure of the painting, looms beneath the surface, its outline just visible enough to send a chill down the viewer’s spine. Interestingly, the figure on the dock from ‘The Scream’ is conspicuously absent, implying that the shark may be behind the man’s disappearance.

As viewers examine the canvas, the sense of foreboding intensifies, culminating in a moment of realization that leaves one both amused and unsettled. Could this be the true reason behind the man’s disappearance? The title of the painting playfully suggests that, in the face of such a formidable foe, a bigger scream might indeed have been necessary.
