I aimed to encapsulate a poignant moment of serenity just before a whirlwind of action and adventure. The central figure is Yoshi, the beloved dinosaur from the Super Mario series, caught in a moment of reprieve as he prepares to jump onto a log for a short nap, blissfully unaware of the adventures that lie ahead in the Smash Bros. Brawl storyline. The painting is executed in an impressionist style, with light and loose brush strokes, predominantly using earth tones with a hint of orange to highlight Yoshi’s features.
As an avid video game enthusiast, the character of Yoshi holds a special place in my heart. Not only because of my fond memories of playing games featuring Yoshi, but also because it was the name given to me by my fraternity. Therefore, creating this piece was not only an artistic endeavor but also a personal one, blending my passion for video games with a meaningful aspect of my personal life.
The tranquility of the scene, juxtaposed with the knowledge of the impending adventures in the Smash Bros. Brawl storyline, adds a layer of depth to the painting. It’s a reminder of the calm before the storm, and the importance of cherishing moments of peace before facing challenges. Pearl Linen Postcard - This 3.5"x5" postcard is printed on linen, creating a almost canvas appearance. Between the linen weaves are pearlescent clusters, which increase the contrast of the art.
