Conquest of Duality

Conquest of Duality

In “Conquest of Duality”, I aimed to encapsulate a silent, yet intense battle within Raven, who sits meditating with a focused and determined expression. My intention was to explore her internal struggle to balance the demonic powers inherited from her father, Trigon, with her human self. The scene is set against a backdrop painted in careful strokes of purple, with added accents of yellow and pink highlighting the atmosphere.

Two ravens sit on Raven’s shoulders, their eyes glowing red, mirroring the demonic influence that constantly whispers to her. They embody the relentless and tumultuous energy flowing through her veins. Yet, despite their ominous presence, Raven herself exudes a different aura – one of neon cerulean, signaling her resilience and steadfastness amidst chaos.

Each stroke I applied while painting aimed to delve deeper into her psyche, revealing a young heroine bearing the weight of unimaginable powers with grace and tenacity. I hope the viewer can sense the silent dialogue between the conflicting forces within her, represented visually by the contrasting colors and the positioning of the ravens.

Raven's face, while revealing her youth, also subtly hints at the burdens she carries. It is a visage marked by inner conflict, but also resolute strength and a glimmer of hope. Through “Conquest of Duality”, I wanted to invite viewers to reflect on the perennial human themes of identity, power, and equilibrium, as embodied by the character in this crucial moment of introspection and battle.
